Vidya Ratna Thiru R. S. Munirathinam, Founder Chairman of R.M.K. College of Engineering and Technology, is a distinguished educationist, philanthropist, and former three-term Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Driven by a vision to make quality technical education accessible, he established institutions that combine academic excellence with research, innovation, and strong values.
His leadership is reflected in RMKCET’s world-class infrastructure, discipline, and unwavering commitment to student success. Admission Procedure
Admissions are conducted through a transparent and merit-based process as per the norms of the Government of Tamil Nadu, DoTE, Anna University, and the Consortium of Self-Financing Colleges.
- Government Quota (50%): Through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) Single Window Counselling.
- Management Quota (50%): Through the Consortium, following prescribed eligibility criteria.
Eligible candidates include students completing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, as well as Diploma/B.Sc. lateral entry applicants as per Anna University regulations.
Innovation & Research: Turning Ideas into Impact
Innovation is at the heart of RMKCET’s approach to engineering education. The institution has invested ₹1.31 crore in establishing an AICTE IDEA Lab, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that enable students and faculty to apply STEM fundamentals to product design, visualization, and development.
The institution has undertaken 340 research and innovation initiatives, securing cumulative funding of ₹5.15 crore through sponsored research, student projects, consultancy, funded events, the IDEA Lab, and AICTE MODROB schemes. These efforts have resulted in 226 published patents and 36 granted patents through R&D Cell.
Under the C2S (Collaboration and Support for Startups) initiative of MeitY, Government of India, the VLSI Design and Technology programme has received a three-year, ₹50 lakh full-suite licence for advanced industry tools from Cadence, Keysight, and Xilinx, enabling cutting-edge research and hands-on learning.
Further strengthening its research ecosystem, RMKCET’s faculty members have collectively published 2,224 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences. Through these initiatives, the institution continues to foster a strong culture of research, innovation, and technology-driven problem-solving.
