Saugata Saha has officially taken charge as President and Chief Executive Officer of Qlik, marking a new leadership chapter for the global data integration, analytics and artificial intelligence company. The appointment comes at a time when businesses are rapidly increasing their focus on artificial intelligence, trusted data and advanced analytics. With extensive experience in enterprise data and intelligence, Saha is expected to guide Qlik through its next phase of product innovation, AI adoption and commercial growth.

Saugata Saha joins Qlik from S&P Global

Before joining Qlik, Saugata Saha spent more than 12 years at S&P Global. He most recently served as President of S&P Global Market Intelligence and Chief Enterprise Data Officer, combining business leadership with responsibility for enterprise-wide data and AI initiatives.

During his tenure at S&P Global, Saha led major data businesses through periods of transformation, revenue growth and operational expansion. He also worked on improving data interoperability and distribution while helping accelerate the company’s adoption of AI.

His professional experience also includes leadership roles covering finance, strategy, mergers and acquisitions and business transformation. Earlier in his career, he worked at McKinsey & Company and began his professional journey with the Godrej Group in India.

Qlik’s leadership transition

Saha succeeds Mike Capone, who stepped down following an eight-year tenure as Qlik CEO. Under Capone, Qlik expanded its position in data integration, data quality, analytics and enterprise technology.

The leadership change comes as the technology industry moves rapidly toward AI-powered business applications. For companies adopting AI, access to reliable, well-governed and connected data has become increasingly important.

Qlik believes its existing capabilities in data and analytics provide a strong foundation for this next stage of growth. The company works with thousands of organisations globally and counts three out of every four Fortune 500 companies among its customers, according to Qlik.

Saugata Saha’s focus on data and AI

A key part of Saha’s leadership will be helping organisations move beyond AI experimentation and generate measurable business value from the technology.

AI models and tools are becoming more accessible, but enterprises still face challenges around data quality, governance, business context and integration. Saha’s background in enterprise data puts him in a strong position to address these issues.

His approach is expected to focus on connecting trusted data with AI and business workflows, allowing organisations to make faster and more informed decisions.

Some of the key areas expected to remain important under his leadership include:

  • AI-ready enterprise data
  • Data integration and data quality
  • Advanced analytics
  • Data governance and interoperability
  • Enterprise AI adoption
  • Measurable business outcomes

What Saugata Saha brings to Qlik

One of the biggest advantages Saha brings to Qlik is his combination of technology, business and operational experience. Rather than coming exclusively from a technical background, he has managed large businesses while also working closely with data, AI and digital transformation.

At S&P Global, he was responsible for businesses operating at significant scale. His experience in transforming data-led organisations could help Qlik identify new opportunities as demand for AI and analytics solutions continues to grow.

Saha has also indicated that customers and partners will play an important role in his leadership approach. In his early communication as CEO, he highlighted Qlik’s technology heritage, ecosystem and opportunity to help organisations create real value from AI.

Qlik enters a new AI-driven phase

The appointment of Saugata Saha as Qlik CEO reflects the broader shift taking place across the enterprise technology sector. Companies are no longer looking at AI simply as an experimental technology. They are increasingly focused on using AI to improve productivity, decision-making and business performance.

For Qlik, this creates both an opportunity and a challenge. The company must continue strengthening its core data and analytics offerings while ensuring they remain relevant as generative AI and intelligent automation evolve.

Saha’s experience could prove valuable in navigating this transition. His understanding of both enterprise data and commercial strategy may allow Qlik to strengthen its position as businesses look for trusted platforms capable of supporting AI-driven operations.

What lies ahead for Qlik

As Saugata Saha begins his tenure, the company’s immediate priorities are likely to centre on customer value, product innovation and disciplined growth. His first months will be closely watched as Qlik defines how it plans to compete in an increasingly crowded AI and data technology market.

For enterprises, the central question is no longer simply whether to adopt AI, but how to make AI work effectively with existing data, systems and business processes.

With Saha at the helm, Qlik is positioning itself to address that challenge by combining its established data and analytics capabilities with the growing demand for enterprise AI.

The new CEO’s background suggests that Qlik’s next chapter will place strong emphasis on trusted data, practical AI adoption and turning technology investments into measurable business results.
